As the YMCA rings in a brand new year, the amazing team at YMCA Camp Elphinstone has its sights set on another big year. The excitement is building and we can’t wait to for all the children, families and groups enjoy all that Camp Elphinstone has to offer through its wide range of programming. Not sure what you can expect for the upcoming year? No need to worry—we’ve got you covered.

Overnight and Day Camps
Located on B.C.’s breathtaking Sunshine Coast, YMCA Camp Elphinstone’s 144-acres provides the perfect setting for kids to enjoy a memorable camp experience. With a focus on building independence, skill development, staying active, gaining confidence and creating meaningful connections with fellow campers, it’s no surprise the Camp Elphinstone team welcomed close to 3,000 enthusiastic kids to its spring and summer camps in 2018!

Some of the camps that were enjoyed last year and being offered again include McNabb (5 to 7 years)—a wonderful introduction to overnight camp for little ones; One and Two Week Camps (7 to 15 years), one of Camp Elphinstone’s most popular offerings where campers are able to choose activities (archery, ropes courses, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.); spring and summer Day Camp (5 to 12 years), five days of action-packed activities that mirror the overnight camp experience; and Leadership Development I and II (15-16 years; 16-17 years), which is Camp Elphinstone’s two-year leadership program designed to help youth learn valuable leadership skills, gain a sense of responsibility and become more self-disciplined.

The new year also brings with it a few new camps options that are ideal for those looking for some added adventure! These camps are Sunshine Coast Trail I (12-14 years), a one-week camp that includes a four-day backpacking trip and is a great opportunity for campers who are new to out-tripping; Sunshine Coast Trail II (13-15), a two-week offering that features a nine-day backpacking trip from Lois Lake to Powell River; and Leadership Development II Exchange (13-15 years), which is a new three-week program that builds off the regular Leadership Development II program and includes a one-week exchange to Ontario.

Family Camp
In addition to its overnight and day camp programs, each year YMCA Camp Elphinstone offers families a wonderful opportunity to connect with each other, as well as other families, through its highly anticipated Family Camp. This year, families can once again choose from two sessions of Family Camp:

  • Summer Family Camp (August 25 to 28)
  • Fall Family Camp (October 11 to 13)
