Calling all teens looking for a unique summer experience where learning new and valuable skills is the name of the game. Whether it's one of our YMCA leadership camps or our brand new Youth Digital Media program, there are plenty of great options for teens ages 12 to 18 years to choose from!
Counsellor-in-Training (12 to 15 years)
Teens will learn what it takes to become an effective camp leader, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to successfully work with children ages 6-12 in camp activities. Participants will learn about topics including healthy child development, child guidance, behaviour management and child protection, and have an opportunity to volunteer in day camps to set the foundation for possible future employment.
Social Change (12 to 15 years)
Are you a changemaker looking to make a positive impact on a community? If so, the Social Change summer leadership camp provides participants with the great opportunity to meet and learn from a YMCA international camp counsellor. They will also get to plan and execute a project that will serve local communities—now that's one productive way to spend a summer!
Recreation Leadership (12 to 15 years)
This active course offers teens the chance to participate in various sports and recreational activities, which help them gain practical experience in coaching, refereeing and leading physical activities. Teens will also learn how to make healthy nutritional choices and use mindfulness tools to help reduce stress, which are two skills that will be important for success in the future—whether it's related to recreation or not.
Youth Digital Media (12 to 18 years)
For teens who have a passion for photography and filmmaking, this new summer camp program will give teens the chance to express themselves through these two great mediums. Those who sign up for the Youth Digital Media program will acquire the fundamentals of photography and filmmaking, and explore the city at the same time through various out trips.
