• Show Us Your Acts of Peace

We believe peace is more than the absence of violence and conflict. YMCA Peace Week (November 19-25, 2017) is when we celebrate the presence of peace in our community and reflect on peace-building work that happens all year both inside and outside the YMCA. Together and as individuals, we acknowledge that peace is the ongoing work of building and rebuilding conditions of fairness, inclusion, empathy, security, and respect for diversity. When people embody the values of PEACE - participation, empathy, advocacy, community and empowerment—through our daily actions, we can build communities where people thrive.

Every November, we take time to remember and recognize the contributions made by veterans and current members of our armed forces. It is a time to stop and reflect on the heroic sacrifices made on our behalf that allow for the freedoms we enjoy as Canadians today.
