Learn. Play. Connect. These three words inspire the purpose behind the Coast Capital Savings Early Childhood and Family Development Centre (FDC).

Located on the fifth floor of Robert Lee Family YMCA, the FDC provides parents/caregivers and their children (ages 0 to 12 years) with a safe and welcoming place to spend quality time together and participate in programs that support the development of children. Programs are focused on skill building, having fun, developing a healthy body and mind and meaningful interaction between parents and their children. Also, once a month, the FDC hosts Kids Night Out—a fun-filled event where kids (ages 3 to 12 years) come together for an evening of crafts, games and connection.

Another element of the FDC that makes it so special is how it fosters community building. There is never a shortage of opportunity for families to connect with each other and children to create new friendships while participating in a number of play-based activities. Also, the FDC equips families with helpful resources, such as the Toy & Book Lending Library, and offers a Post Partum Support Group for expecting and new mothers.

Whether a family is new to the city or has lived in the area for many years, the Coast Capital Savings Early Childhood and Family Development Centre is a unique place that welcomes all families with open arms and make them feel right at home.

A FDC membership is $17 per month and provides families with the following:
