The YMCA is currently planning to expand the Chilliwack Family YMCA, and we are proud to partner with the Chilliwack community to invest in the lives of people. Now is the time to be bold so that children, teens, families, adults, immigrants and older adults living in Chilliwack can reach their full potential. We aim to serve over 6,000 people by 2017 with the Hocking Street community centre expansion. We will also expand other programs we currently offer in the community: child care, day camps, youth leadership development, newcomer Connections and youth employment readiness.

The Y is deeply committed to the three problems that make it challenging for families to grow up strong: vulnerability, inactivity and isolation:

  • 39% of Chilliwack children entering Kindergarten are developmentally vulnerable compared to the provincial average of 32.5%.
  • Average family income after tax in Chilliwack is $69,683 compared to the provincial average of $78,580.
  • Youth inactivity and obesity are considered by many to be at the epidemic level in Chilliwack.
  • Almost 25% of Chilliwack residents live alone.

Let's work together to raise resilient kids, strong families and leverage the power of community so that, together, we can reach our full potential.
