Ages 6 to 12
Girls in Action provides a safe environment for girls to improve their self-esteem and self-confidence through leadership activities.
Developed by the Surrey School District, Girls in Action focuses on addressing the needs of at-risk girls from Grade 4-6 who are impacted by bullying, negative gender views, lack of confidence and disengagement from school. Community school partnership staff and YMCA staff work with the girls to develop their leadership skills through hands-on skill building activities and partnerships with various external organizations.
Please note that Girls in Action is not open for registration. Participants are identified and selected by school administrative staff.
For other after school programs offered by the YMCA, please check our After School Program page.
