Robert Lee YMCA

Ages 16+

Time spent learning healthy behaviours and being physically active is more important now than ever before. Too many people are inactive or overweight and at risk of chronic disease. In effort to help change this, the YMCA partnered with the BC Ministry of Health to create Healthy Eating After School, a resource designed to help after school care programs create an environment where children learn about preparing and eating healthy food.

It’s not a set curriculum, but rather a resource that guides after school care providers towards implementing healthy eating guidelines that best fits the needs of their programs. The resource includes nutrition and physical activity guidelines, a variety of planning tools and cooking sessions designed especially for kids.

The resource is available online in the form of an e-course which provides two hours of continuing education credits. The course is available for FREE and consists of two modules. Upon completion of the first module, participants will be able to access and download the electronic version of the Healthy Eating After School manual.

After successfully completing the entire module, participants will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to use the credited two hours towards Responsible Adult Training.

Participants who complete the module will receive:

  • Healthy Eating After School Electronic Manual
  • Credit towards Responsible Adult Training (2 hours)
  • Certificate of Completion
