Chilliwack YMCA

Ages 18+

Together in Movement and Exercise (TIME™) is a new, evidence based, exercise program designed for adults with stroke, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis or other mobility concerns. In partnership with Fraser Health’s Community REDi/ Outpatients Rehab, Vancouver Coastal Health and the YMCA of Greater Vancouver.

TIME™ promotes better health for people who are living with residual balance and mobility challenges. Meet class participants with similar conditions and support each other. Classes are one hour in duration and are held twice a week for 12 weeks.

After discharge from hospital, many individuals have residual impairments and are at risk for inactivity, isolation, and poor health. Ongoing access to exercise and physical activity is essential to counteract a potential cycle of decline.

In 2007, physiotherapists at Toronto Rehab designed an evidence based program that is implemented by fitness instructors in community centres, TIME contributes to the solution of where and how to exercise.

Pilot evaluation findings published in a peer-reviewed journal indicate significant improvement in balance and walking capacity in people with stroke.

Program: 12 weeks of classes (24 classes in total)
Program Fees: $255*

*Participants that are experiencing financial hardship are welcome to apply for Financial Assistance.
