We're here to help young people thrive!
Even though anxiety is the most common illness affecting youth in British Columbia,* 40% of youth do not access much-needed mental health services because they don’t know where to go,** In addition, very few services have been available for youth who suffer from mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety.
That is, until Y Mind, an iniative created to support young people with mental health challenges. To address the need for mental health support the YMCA of Greater Vancouver offers wellness groups for young people between 13 - 30 years of age.
Mindfulness Groups are six and seven-week programs for youth ages 13-17 and 18-30 respectively. The programs offer youth psychoeducational workshops, a support group under the leadership of Masters in Counselling graduates using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles, and a YMCA membership. The programming is offered at no cost to the participants, so financial concerns should not be a barrier.
