After recognizing a need for more inclusion based programming within our community, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver is bringing together Indigenous, settler and newcomers between 18 - 29 years old.
The program is a week-long and it’s rooted in reconciliation and awareness of Indigenous ways of being for young adults ages 18 to 29. Through Y Nexus youth are given the space to share knowledge from their respective communities all while pioneering new perspectives on leadership and inclusion. With the support of a resident elder, Y Nexus will provide the opportunity for participants to develop and implement strategies to forge collaborative relationships between Indigenous and non-indigenous communities.
During this innovative week long program, participants will be engaged in experiential dialogues, traditional local First Nations practices, key note speakers, and educational modules.
Participants will have the chance to:
- Share, develop, and implement ideas
- Forge collaborative relationships
- Pioneer new perspectives on leadership
We invite participants to come prepared to share their experiences and knowledge as we recognize that participants have critical insights into the barriers faced in their communities.
