The Office Volunteer will help with a variety of administrative tasks in support of the YMCA's Healthy Heart program, a community-based cardiac prevention, rehabilitation, and maintenance program that supports people living with cardiac risk through education and supervised exercise.  Based on the skill set and interests of the candidate the responsibilities in this role could include: data entry and working with spread sheets, participant file preparation and filing; making phone calls to participants; marketing and promotion; preparing special event campaign materials; and internet research

Time Commitment

  • Min. 3 hours per week (flexible schedule-weekday hours) for a minimum of 4 months

Responsibilities

  • Input and update participant information in databases and spread sheets
  • Maintaining and updating office inventory
  • Assist with the preparation and storage of participant files
  • Call participants to gather information and update records
  • Help with program marketing (distributing program information, etc.)
  • Conduct internet research as directed
  • Assist with general office duties (photocopying, faxing, filing, etc.)

Requirements

  • Highly organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Prior office experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Self-motivated 
  • Positive attitude and good command of the English language
  • Comfortable speaking with the public over the telephone
