Requirements

  • Successful completion of all volunteer documents and Criminal Records Search
  • Minimum 21 years of age or older
  • Experience in working with youth & teenagers between the ages of 10-18 or in leadership programs
  • Willingness to learn to facilitate large groups of youth; plan weekly sessions with co-facilitator(s)
  • Commitment of 2 hrs each week on Wednesday evenings (except holidays) or any other event.  Be at least 5 minutes early for any scheduled event
  • Attendance at a Welcome to the Y, Child Protection Level 1 training session, and YLD Training
  • Understand and abide by the YMCA core values

Our Commitment to the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults

The YMCA is committed to the protection of children in our care and vulnerable adults participating in our programs.  To ensure this commitment is upheld, all volunteers will need to provide:

  • A current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • Three references  (two of these should be professional references)
