Mental Wellness Support for Indigenous Teens and Youth
Mind Medicine is a group-based, early-intervention mental wellness program for young people ages 13 to 30 experiencing anxiety and stress.
Mind Medicine is offered by Indigenous-serving organizations to young people in their community. The facilitators deliver the program in a culturally responsive way, incorporating connection to culture throughout the sessions to help young people learn ways to cope with anxiety.
Mind Medicine is based on the YMCA mental wellness program, Y Mind, and was developed in 2019 through work with an Indigenous consultant, Indigenous youth focus groups, an Indigenous Advisory, and 13 communities across BC who piloted Mind Medicine.
